FREE Virtual Class with Emily Elwell
Emily Elwell grew up dancing in Marcy, New York at the Mohawk Valley Ballet, under the direction of Delia Foley, an official Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance and Melissa Larish. Emily spent her summers training at the prestigious Boston Ballet, New York State Summer School of the Arts, The Rock School for Dance Education, and Ballet Arizona. She travelled to Eastern Europe in the summer of 2014, where she trained and performed in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as a member of Butler Ballet.
Emily graduated Cum Laude with her B.A. in Dance Pedagogy from Butler University in the spring of 2017. At Butler, she trained with influential teachers and choreographers such as Derek Reid, Patrick Hinson, Marek Cholewa, Susan McGuire, Cynthia Pratt, Michelle Jarvis and Stephan Laurent, among others. Upon graduation Emily was contracted to dance with the City Ballet of San Diego, under the direction of Steven and Elizabeth Wistrich. She danced with the company for three seasons where she performed numerous soloist and principal roles, and had many original works created on her. Her favorites include Rose in the Nutcracker, and Second Theme in George Balanchine's, The Four Temperaments. Emily now teaches ballet across San Diego for students of all ages.
